| So I'm in a machining program at school and am modifying my throttle body's to 54mm (just like Rob'z) and I already made a jig and bored my TBs out to 54mm and now I need to make the throttle plate. what I need to know is, is there a reason why they have brass throttle plates? any reason why I can't use cold roll steel (free for me) or another piece of aluminum (very cheap) I ask because the brass piece I need is going to cost me about $300.00. I'm about to go make some steel ones (so I can at least finish the project) but can is there any reason why I shouldn't run this on my car? Also I need to replace all my Delrin spacers, would brass spacers be acceptable ro run? and before someone asks, my school can provide me 1 1/2" brass rod for nothing, but the 2 1/4" needed for the throttle plate I have to buy myself, the steel is also provided by the school. Thanks for your help.
